One of the first things seniors wonder when planning their pictures is where to take them. Do you want studio photos? An outdoor session? Somewhere that means something to you? At Hayden Burns Photography in Evansville, we can include a mix of studio and on-location pictures, depending on the session you choose. Your favorite looks might be closer together than you think.
Why Choose Studio Senior Pictures?
If “studio pictures” makes you think of sitting on a stool in front of the same background everyone else used, let me introduce you to a few other options.

My studio has different sets, backgrounds, furniture, and lighting possibilities. We can keep things simple with jeans and a clean backdrop, dress things up, or create something a little unexpected. Sports gear, instruments, and personal interests can all help shape what we do. The studio also gives us control over the light. We can create a soft look or something bold and dramatic without waiting for the sun to cooperate.
Make It Personal With the Hobby Wall.
My Hobby Wall is a fun way to bring more of you into your senior pictures. We can style it with things tied to your sport, hobbies, or favorite interests. Think jerseys, sneakers, instruments, and the little things you’ve collected along the way. It’s available as an add-on to the Legacy, Heirloom and Story sessions.

Studio pictures are a great choice if you love fashion, dramatic lighting, clean backgrounds, or having several looks in one place.
Why Choose On-Location Senior Pictures?
Sometimes the setting is part of your story. Maybe you feel most at home on a softball field. Maybe you love being near the water, want downtown backgrounds, or have a favorite place that would make your pictures more personal. Sometimes it’s in your very own backyard. Outdoor locations bring natural light, texture, and room to move. Walking, exploring, and having something to do can also help if standing in front of a camera feels a little awkward at first.
The season matters, too. Summer greenery and fall color create different looks, and we’ll plan around the light and conditions for your session.

On-location pictures are a great choice if you want nature, city scenery, or a place connected to your interests.
What If You Want a Mix of Both?
That’s the perk of booking Hayden Burns Photography. We get to do BOTH! My studio sits on about three acres, with outdoor options including the wildflower field, porch, and pool area. We can create very different pictures without spending a big part of your session driving between locations. Depending on your session, we can also include places beyond the property. You might wear a dress for studio portraits, change into jeans for pictures outside, and finish somewhere that ties into your sport or hobby. Each setting gives us a different way to show your personality.

How Do You Decide?
Start with your outfits, interests, and the kinds of pictures you’re drawn to. You don’t need to arrive with a complete plan. Send me your outfit ideas and tell me a little about yourself. I’ll help match the settings to what you want, whether that means mostly studio, mostly outdoors, or some of each. You also don’t need to choose outdoor pictures just because you’re shy, or studio pictures because you know how to pose. I’ll guide you in either setting.
The best choice is the one that gives you pictures you’re excited about. And if you love both? We can make room for both.
